Armed Forces Day
Great opportunity to visit one of the UK’s oldest military Mess’s located in the very heart of Cardiff City Centre. Steeped in history ( 14 of the 24 Welsh VC’s were members of the Mess) and not a spare space on the walls without military memorabilia. The bar will be open from 12:00 hours and any serving or veteran personnel are welcome to visit (relevant ID to be shown on entry) free of charge. There is no dress code on the day, so come along and enjoy a day pulling up a sand bag and and reminiscing on the current / good old days.

Battlefield Tour 2025

This is a great opportunity for Mess members to get together to continue and enjoy camaraderie, military history and to have a fun couple of days together. The trip is being organised by Tony Hampson who is liaising with Anglia Tours and arrangements have been made for a personal tour guide for the duration of the trip.
Currently the following locations have been scheduled to visit during the tour:
Lijssenhoek Military Cemetery, Poperinghe Town Hall Death Cell, Hill 60, Hooge Crater Museum, Essex Farm, , Welsh National Memorial, Langemark German Cemetery, Passchendaie Museum 1917 Complex, Tyne Cot Visitie Centre & Cemetery, Menin Gate (optional) and a beer supermarket on the way home.
There are only 39 spaces available and it will be on a first come first basis on confirmation of a deposit.
A full itinerary, along with costs etc will be circulated at the earliest opportunity.
The anticipated cost will be approximately £590 per person sharing a twin or double room with a £90 supplement for a single room. An Anglia tour guide, coach, bed & breakfast accommodation as well as all museum tickets are included in the price.

The Mess is opening it’s door to all members of the emergency services for the evening free of charge. This is a fantastic opportunity for the different emergency services to get together and make new friends. Members of the police, fire service, ambulance service, coast guard, NHS and mountain rescue teams are invited. Members of the Mess are also invited for the evening.

The biggest day in military sport will be shown on our new large screen in the Mess. in one of the fiercest rivalries in the history of rugby. The Senior Men's and Senior Women's teams from the British Army and Royal Navy go head-to-head for the right to lift The Babcock Trophy. Army v Navy day celebrates everything we love about our Armed Forces and rugby - Comradeship, Teamwork, Enjoyment, Rugby, Passion, Discipline and Respect - and there is the pomp and circumstance to match, on and off the field. This is 160 minutes of rugby not to be missed!
