Dambusters Dinner 17/05/2024

On 17 May 2024, the mess held an 81st anniversary dinner to commemorate Op Chastise, the anniversary of the Dambusters raid.

Members and guests were treated to a very informative and engaging after dinner speech by mess member Fg Off Ian Doyle RAFAC who is a military historian and battlefield guide and ex serving regular in the RAF. Ian’s talk focused on some of the aircraft and crews involved in the raid and was an innovative and fascinating address.

Members and guests were greeted on arrival by a member dressed in WW2 pilot’s battledress adding to the sense of nostalgia.

It was a very lively evening in the mess which also hosted a police retirement party.

Overall, a great evening all round.
